Two Free Methods to Export Contacts, Emails from Lotus Notes to Outlook

The IBM Lotus Notes saves all mailbox contents in an NSF (Notes Storage Facility) file. This application is inbuilt with a suite of functions that permits you to program and configure your system as a web server. Mainly it is used as an email platform. Despite this, the Microsoft Outlook is the most preferred emailing platform in the world. By using Outlook you can send and receive emails.  Moreover, it stores all your contacts, assist you schedule meetings, and allows you to browse the web. The manual method is subdivided into two methods i.e., method 1 and method 2. In method 1 we export all contacts from Lotus Notes account. In method 2, we will import these contacts to Microsoft Outlook account.

Method 1: For exporting Lotus Notes contacts.

  1. First, launch Lotus Notes on the system and click on Contacts.
  2. On the menu bar, click on More >> Export contacts. The system displays a dialog box of the Export Contacts.
  3. For exporting all your contacts from Lotus Notes to Outlook, choose the “All contacts in this view”.
  4. For exporting all the information of the contacts, select the “All fields”.
  5. Browse the directory to save the contacts in the “Save to” field.
  6. Give the proper name to the target file in the “File name”.
  7. In the ‘Save as type’ field, choose the CSV option.
  8. Click on Export.

Method 2: Method for importing Lotus Notes contacts to Microsoft Outlook

  1. First, launch the Microsoft Outlook and click on Open -> Import. The system displays the Import and Export Wizard on the screen.
  2. In the “Choose an action to perform” option, choose the “Import from another program or file” option from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click on Next. The system displays the Import a File.
  4. In the Select file type to import from the field, choose the “Comma Separated Values (Windows)”.
  5. In the “File to import” option, click on Browse and navigate to the directory in which you had saved the CSV file. Choose the file.
  6. In the Options field, choose the “Do not import duplicate items”.Click on Next button.
  7. In the ‘Select destination folder’ option, choose one of the available folders and click on Next button.
  8. Click on Finish button. All contacts will be imported to the Microsoft Outlook account.
  9. To view all the contacts, open your Microsoft Outlook account and click on Contacts.

The Demerit of Manual Method

Through this method, Lotus Notes do not import all the saved information regarding every contact.

Like, you can’t view the image and logo of Lotus Notes in Microsoft Outlook. You should have good technical knowledge.

Automated Method
