What happens after enabling the ‘Send immediately when connected’ option?

Well, what happens after that relies on whether you are connected to a network or Outlook is set to work online or offline.

  • If you are connected, and Outlook is working Online, then the emails will be delivered unless Outlook runs into an error. In such a scenario, it pursuit delivery systematically.
  • If you are connected, and Outlook is set to work Offline, then, in this case, Outlook will not deliver emails. The email messages will remain in Outbox until you set Outlook to Work Online.

Note: If the account is part of the Send / Receive group, Outlook tries to send messages while offline, which is set to attempt mail delivery according to the schedule when working offline.

  • If you are not connected, and Outlook is working Online, then Outlook sends the email but returns an error. The message is placed in Outbox. Outlook tries to deliver the email a few minutes after you connect.
  • If you are not connected, and Outlook is set to work Offline, Outlook will not deliver the message shortly.
